The Owner

Hi, my name is Jane Robertson and I brought Tanleys at the end of 2005 with plans one day to retire to the Highlands and in December 2020 that day arrived. I managed to get up just before the last lockdown happened and spent the time getting Tanleys ready for guests, which was challenging but fun. My family is Scottish, and I have loved visiting here since I was a child and even lived in the suburbs of Glasgow for 3 years back in the early 1990’s. However, the Highlands was always the dream, and I am looking forward to sharing my home and my passion for Scotland with you. The other residents here are my dogs, Westie, Angus, who I have had since he was a pup of 8 weeks. He is 13 years old now, although you would not know it from the way he behaves. He was joined in October 2021 by Skye my black Labrador who was born in August 2021. If you are not a dog fan, do not worry they do not come into the guest accommodation, but if you want to say hello, they are often there in their part of the garden with a warm Highlands welcome.

Sustainability

Wherever possible in the B&B I try to avoid using single use plastic and do not use individually wrapped items on the tea trays. All items are kept in individual small glass jars and are refreshed for each new guest. If you run out of any items, please ask for a top up. There is a recycling bin in the rooms, as well as a general waste bin and even a container for your used tea bags which can be composted. Filtered water is available in a flask in your room and can be topped up from the supply in the lounge in the B&B. If you would like your water bottle topped up, please just ask. Fresh milk is available in the electric cooler in the lounge and milk jugs are available for this purpose.

In the Skye Pod I provide a recycling and composting bins and details of what items can be recycled.

I can now recycle clean soft plastic at local supermarkets. I thank you in advance for your help with my efforts.
